Chain Mail Legs

In the 11th century, chain leggings became an integral part of medieval armor. The wedding of the chain equipment broke out, and the warrior was covered with braided chains from head to toe. In addition to the long-sleeved chain shirt (Hauberk), this included the chain hood, chain gloves and chain legs. Only with the advent of the first plate at the end of the 13th century the individual parts gradually disappeared and were replaced by plates..

Collars were worn in various ways. One possibility is the combination with long upholstery leggings worn under the chain legs. A further one is to wear the chain legs under a padded upper leg protection, which gave it with leather knee caps or with steel caps.
